Stockholm in 24 Hours
Only have 24 hours to spend in Stockholm? OK, here are the essentials:
Start by visiting Stockholms Stadshus (Stockholm City Hall), where the Nobel Banquet is held every year. From City Hall tower you also get a wonderful view over the entire city.
Proceed to Gamla Stan, Stockholm's oldest district and one of the best-preserved medieval city centers in the world. Walk through the winding streets lined with stores full of handicrafts, antiques and art galleries. Stop at a cozy café. The Royal Palace and Stockholm Cathedral (where the royal wedding was held in the summer of 2010) are also in Gamla Stan.
A real must is to experience Stockholm from the water - after all, it’s a city built on fourteen islands... Hop aboard a sightseeing boat and let it take you for a tour.
And by all means, don’t miss the most visited museum in Scandinavia, the Vasa Museum on the green island of Djurgården. The warship Vasa sank on its maiden voyage in central Stockholm in the seventeenth century. A marvelous experience for young and old alike.
